Water and land resource
  (1) Land resource. The cultivated area of the whole county is 345,333 hectares. The land is fertile, suitable for many kinds of crops  (2) Water resource. The water resource in Liangcheng county is abundant. 33 different rivers interweave among mountains and beaches, belonging to the Yellow River, Yongding River, Dai Sea respectively, among which the size of Dai Sea is 2252 sq. km, the size of the Yellow River is 1103 sq. km. , the size of Yongding River is 433 sq. km. The reserves of the surface water and groundwater in the whole county are 316 million cubic meters.
Animals,plants and mineral resources
  (3 Resources of . There are over thousands of kinds of wild plants in Liangcheng county, among which edible buckthorn , mountain cherry , fern , wild onions , wild leek, wild apricot, mountain grape , mushroom, etc. are well-known inside and outside the Inner Mongolian Region. There are more than 1000 kinds of wild animals, among which there are more than 20 kinds of economic animals haunting in the virgin forest of Manhan Mountain.
  (4 Mineral resources. The mineral resources in Liangcheng county are comparatively abundant. More than 20 kinds of ores are already verified. Among them, the granite is of high-quality. The total reserves are about 290,000 cubic meters, which have already sold in the international market at present; The black jade is tough and fine. The performance index of the materialization reaches the standard , and the reserves are abundant. It has great value in industry; The supreme gold content of the ore called “Meijin”is 17 grams per ton, and 4 grams per ton on average , which is classified as the national-level geological project; the abundant Diamond dust and pomegranate stone are very high in national grade; diamond dust has a good prospect in Japan , Australia and countries in Europe. The reserves of C +D of the pomegranate stone is verified up to 55,700 tons which are exploited at present.
 Climate
  It is half arid continental monsoon climate in temperate zone. It is relatively long, cold, dry and windy in winter and short in summer when The rainwater is centralized and warm. The weather is changeable and violent in spring and autumn. Precipitation leans towards little and evaporation capacity is great. The average temperature of the whole year is 5 degrees Centigrade. Annual sunshine time is more than 3000 hours. The average annual precipitation is 350-450 mm
Area

  Liangcheng county covers 346,000 hectares (3,458 square kilometers), of which 70,000 hectares is arable ( about1.33 hectares can be irrigated); the woods land are 100,000 hectares; the grassland is 93,300 hectares.

Land form and physiognomy

  Liangcheng county is located in the south of Inner Mongolia Plateau, the southern foot of Daqing Mountain, and north of the Great Wall. The ground form is complicated and various mainly with hills and mountains. Liangcheng is surrounded by mountains on four sides, and with beaches, especially Dai Sea, and plains in the middle.The domestic mountain range---Manhan Mountain and Matou Mountain which present NEE-SwW trend---belongs to the offshoot of Yinshan Mountains.The main mountain peaks are distributed in the north and south of the county. Among them, Manhan Mountain has an elevation of 2305 meters, which mountaintop is a summit in the county.

Historical Evolution

  Liangcheng has a long history and various vicissitudes. According to the ancient trace explored at present, the mankind lived here in the Neolithic Age, 6,000 years ago. The discovered Yongxing ridge, Anjia camp , Wang Tomb Mountain belong to the middle Neolithic Age (YangShao Culture Stage) according to experts and scholars. Maoqinggou Culture Relic, Laohushan Culture Relic and Yuanzigou Culture Relic represent typically the late Neolithic Age in North China ( the Longshan Culture Stage). According to these unearthed historical relics of the sites, ancestor living here achieved to some extent in ideology, culture and labor skills. Especially the buildings in the enclosure of Laohushan Site are the earliest enclosure relics discovered in our country so far. Therefore people had the ability to defend the enemy and wild animals at that time, which shows the development degree in the era。
